About Beard and Mustache Hair Transplant Procedure
Beard and mustache transplantation is a common operation that we perform in our specialized center in Turkey, as it is considered one of the most important hair transplant operations for men, especially when it comes to the beard and mustache, which are the most important features of beauty for men.
In this procedure, we transfer hair follicles from an area with a lot of hair (usually the back of the head) and transplant them into any patchy or uneven area of the beard or mustache, giving you the perfect facial hair you want.
Before Beard and Mustache Transplant Procedure
First of all, your doctor will choose the best technique for your condition. you might have your head shaved in the donor area, you will go under local anaesthesia so you don’t experience any discomfort during the procedure.
The procedure may last 8 hours and this varies based on the used technique and the size of the treated area.
If you wish, an oral sedative can be taken before the procedure to calm your nerves and make you more comfortable for the duration of the surgery.
After Beard and Mustache Transplant Procedure
The natural hair cycle continues and these hairs may shed and start the regrowth cycle after 10-12 weeks. Newly grafted hair is expected to continue growing once transplanted
After the surgery, you can start shaving normally again in only 2 weeks.
Tiny crusts may form around each newly implanted hair follicle, but these should flake off within a few days.

During Beard and Mustache Hair Transplant Procedure
Usually, it depends on the technique used. For example:
If you are going for the FUT technique: no hair shaving is required, only the back of the head (the donor site) will be trimmed, then the surgeon will take grafts from this site (the graft usually has 1 to 4 hairs) and place them in small cuts in the area where the hair is thin and needs to be treated.
The grafts sites will be closed with stitches and this will lead to scars that can be easily hidden.
Whereas in the FUE technique: the back of the head will be shaved then the surgeon moves the hairs one by one (the graft is only one hair) this will increase the number of scars but they will be much smaller which means less noticeable.

But the advantage of this technique is that the surgeon harvests a larger amount of hair, which means a fuller beard.
