About the procedure

Abdominal muscles procedure or “tummy tuck” is a cosmetic procedure (also known as abdominoplasty) that aims to give you the perfect abdominal structure by removing excess fat, skin and tightening abdominal wall muscles
It’s not a quick fix for losing weight as the procedure is usually only recommended for people with a healthy body mass index (BMI).
a tummy tuck also may rebuild muscles that have become weakened or separated due to pregnancy or trauma.
It can be appropriate for women who have had many pregnancies or anyone who has lost a lot of weight.

Before the procedure

  • you should have enough sleep and rest well the day before the surgery
  • If you are sunbathing or tanning, you should put that on pause so that you don’t irritate the skin
  • No food for 12 hours before the procedure
  • You also have to stop vitamins like vitamin C and vitamin E for 4 weeks before the surgery
  • it’s very important to cut smoking before and after the surgery as well as cutting alcohol for at least 48 hours before the surgery
  • You will undergo blood workup and medical evaluation with a close focus on cardiovascular and pulmonary status
  • You may have to stop some of your medications, for example, those which can increase bleeding such as blood thinners and NSAIDs (Aspirin) for 2 weeks before the surgery

After the procedure

During the first few days of recovery, you can expect moderate pain and soreness

This can take anywhere from 5 to 7 days before you can return to work and 4 to 6 weeks before you can get back to physical activities

You should plan to limit your activity during this time as well

You should commit to a healthy diet and exercise plan to maintain your results

For a few weeks after surgery, you may have Bruising, Swelling or Soreness.

During the procedure

Marking is the first step to indicate the location of the incisions, the center of your torso and the location of the repositioned navel
Then the surgeon will make the incisions which will be placed depending on the used technique
the surgeon will remove excess fat by liposuction or other methods. Your abdominal skin is then stretched down over your incision line and the excess skin is removed.
The muscles will be pulled closer together and stitched into a position to provide them with a more toned look. Abdominal muscle tightening will make the waistline appear narrower.
The surgeon may detach the original navel and place it in a more youthful location. Sometimes the old navel may not be reattached, but a new navel may be artificially sculpted
Finally, he will use tissue glue, sutures or staples to close the incisions.
Medications are administered for your comfort during surgical procedures. The choices include intravenous sedation and general anaesthesia. Your doctor will recommend the best choice for you.

Abdominal muscles procedures techniques

We have multiple choices like extended tummy tuck, Standard or full tummy, mini tummy tuck and fleur-de-lis tummy tuck
At your first visit to the doctor, you will discuss the appropriate technique regarding your case and your goal.

Extended tummy

removes more skin and fat than standard so, it’s preferred after a massive weight loss

The mini tummy tuck

can be used for only a small number of patients as it carries the least correction

Fleur-de-lis

can correct the most amount of correction yet it causes more visible scars.
The main difference between them is where the incisions are placed
